ancho at the omni

If you're ever at the Omni in Downtown Austin, try their bar/restuarant, Ancho. Quick, friendly service and the selection of food is not so bad. Good for evenings and mornings when you just want to stay in. (Below are some choices from a number of trips/visits).

burgers and brew

Burgers & Brew - one of my favorite places to go after a long day at work or on a day when i don't want to cook... the ambiance is relaxed and chill. it's a fairly large venue with plenty of seating inside and limited seating outside. their happy hours start at 3:00-3:30 [?] and last until 6:00 pm. anyways, tonight, i went for a a chimay white.. (tasty!) and a simple burger. nothing too fancy.

how can you possibly go wrong with a beer called monkey knife fight? for a wednesday night, this place was unusually busy. it must have been because the weather warmed up a bit, and people were ready to go out and enjoy the nice breezy night. we got to the restaurant a little after 6 pm... and waited about 15 minutes for our seats.

just another thursday. so we thought. this morning, the first thing i said to Mr. TG was "i'm ready!" we had been talking about going to Pangaea for some time and we really needed it this week. i started rounding up the folks in PT and it was a go. game on.

Grimbergen Dubbel - Pangaea Two Brews Cafe

from the outside, it is a very unsuspecting "bar". i think the "cafe" part throws people off. but once you walk in, you realize that this place is no ordinary cafe. pangaea has a very large selection of beer on tap as well as a huge offering of bottled beers. they also have some select wine that apparently only came in "goblet" size per Ms. JJ.

hungry? well you're in luck too. the have food too. from starters, sandwiches, salads, and sides - this place has a nice selection to go with your beer!

i wanted to order the sausage sampler to share with the group, but they only had one type of sausage... and here it was. i don't remember what the guy said it was, all i know was that it was YUMMY!  it was served with mustard, some ridiculously good bread, and potato salad (ps. it has bacon in it).

overall, food - good. beer - great. company - best. had a blast. am looking forward for the next PT adventure.
