curra's grill

the Mother of all Mex

my coworker and I decided to venture out to dinner tonight and one of our clients recommended curra's. we did a quick search on yelp, checked the website and thought it looked pretty good. I mean, "the Mother of all Mex"...

upon arrival, we can immediately smell the grill, in a good way. we walked in, were promptly seated, and given chips, salsa and water.

we also ordered a queso dip to go with the chips and some drinks.

two words: avocado margarita

yep. you heard right! it was a blended creamy concoction that was truly delish! I was a bit skeptical, but yelpers really love it and well, I couldn't not try it, right?

after mulling over the menu for some time we finally asked the waiter for some suggestions and ended up with a jr order of the tamales and enchiladas to share. (there were many options and they allowed you to mix various sauces and meats however you like.) we ended up with 2 pork, 1 chicken, and 1 bean tamale, a chicken enchilada with chipotle aside and a beef enchilada with the red sauce.

in short, everything we tasted was at minimum good.

I thought pork tamales were the most savory bites. the chicken and bean tamales, while good, didn't quite stack up when compared with the pork one. as for the enchiladas, the sauces definitely had a great kick
